District Meeting
District 42 invites all A.A. members to attend the district meeting held at 7:00 PM on the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1370 Defense Highway, Gambrills, MD 21054. Any A.A. member can come to the monthly meeting and see how the district's business is conducted and what issues are currently affecting the district and the A.A. groups it serves.
DCMs and GSRs from District 42 and District 26 met together at the January 10 meeting to discuss merging the two districts. After a prolonged discussion all present voted in favor of merging. As a result, all A.A. groups formerly in District 26 will now be recognized as being in District 42 and will participate and vote in all future District 42 meetings, and their members are fully eligible to stand for election to District 42 offices.
The meeting ended with a reading and discussion of Tradition 1in the Traditions Checklist from the A.A. Grapevine and Concept I from The Twelve Concepts for World Service, Illustrated.
The next
District 42 meeting will be February 14, 2012.

District Elections
Elections for District 42 service positions are held every two years. District 42 jobs present a terrific opportunity for you or someone you sponsor. You can come to any District 42 monthly meeting and volunteer for a position, or email the DCM at dcm@mdaadistrict42.org for more information.
Newcomer Packets
The district places newcomer packets where they can be noticed and picked up by people in need of help with an alcohol problem. Each packet contains a back issue of the Grapevine magazine, a copy of the pamphlet A Newcomer Asks, and a list of A.A. meetings in District 42. GSRs and other volunteers leave the packets in waiting rooms and lobbies of doctors' offices, hotels, law offices, and wherever else someone may want to reach out for "the hand of A.A." New packets are prepared as the supply on hand is depleted.
Your Group: You can have your upcoming A.A. group or district events and activities such as meeting cancellations, group conscience or business meetings, picnics, dances, workshops, group anniversaries, etc. announced here.* Just send an email with the details to the Webmaster webmaster@mdaadistrict42.org . 12&12 Recovery Group
The 12&12 Recovery Group wants to encourage all members of A.A. to attend their meetings. They believe they have had some exceptionally inspiring and informative speakers to lead their meetings, and they want to share it all with you.
The format at this step meeting skips any full reading of the step for the week. Instead, the participants spend the full hour on sharing their experience with the step and the step's effects on achieving and maintaining their sobriety and the profound changes it has brought about in their lives.
The group's meeting place in a small church in Woodwardville is quiet and rather secluded, but is not difficult to find by GPS or on maps or internet mapping services.

Workshops: District 42 workshops will be announced here well in advance so you can make plans to attend. You won’t want to miss them.
The most recent workshop, "Show Me The Money," held on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, covered issues such as what happens to the money you contribute at each meeting and who gets it, what your group treasurer does for the group and other A.A. entities, and how your group uses its "share" of the money.
Check back often to find out about the next District 42 workshop.
